Dr. Jeremy Madden, principal of Fayette County High School has been named District 7 South - High School Principal of the Year.

Dr. Jeremy Madden is a 19-year educator who became principal of Fayette County High School in 2011. He attended Russellville City Schools and graduated from Russellville High School in 1993. After beginning college studies at Northwest Shoals Community College, he transferred to the University of North Alabama where he earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, master's, and ED.S. in educational administration. He's since completed his Ph.D. from The University of Alabama in the department of education leadership, policy, and technology studies.   

"It is an absolute honor for me to be selected as the AASSP District 7S High School Principal of the Year. I view this selection as a reflection of all the accomplishments Fayette County High School students, teachers, staff, and parents have been able to achieve the past nine years,” said Dr. Madden.

Each of the eight Alabama Association of Secondary School Principal (AASSP) districts nominate a principal within their district for the award. Madden will be interviewed by a selection committee at the 2019 AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference, November 10-13, where the top three finalists will be announced. The winner of Alabama’s High School Principal of the Year award will be named in January.

The Alabama High School Principal of the Year Award is sponsored by the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals and American Fidelity.
