CLAS Banner Schools Information PDF Print E-mail

The CLAS Banner School Award originated in 2001 with the purpose to identify, recognize, and publicize schools and programs with outstanding educational programs which serve as models for schools across our state. CLAS Banner Schools make a brief presentation of their exemplary program at the annual Recognition Luncheon held in Montgomery. The Banner School principals and superintendents are recognized and presented with a CLAS banner to display in their school signifying this distinguished honor.

The Banner School Process

  • Local Superintendents nominate schools or programs in their district who have shown proven success through the 2010-2011 school year
  • Principals of nominated schools submit a completed application packet to CLAS by a pre-determined date
  • Deserving schools/programs are chosen using specified criteria by a Banner School Selection Team, comprised of CLAS administrators from the various affiliates and Alabama State Department of Education Officials
  • Once the selection process is complete, all schools are notified of their Banner School application status
  • As part of the Banner School’s recognition, CLAS submits a news release to newspapers in each local area and features each school in the CLAS School Leader magazine and on the CLAS website

Banner School Selection Criteria
