L. Earl Franks, CLAS executive director for the past nine years has announced his retirement/resignation.
Letter from the Executive Director
It is with mixed emotions that I tender my resignation/retirement as Executive Director of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) effective June 30, 2017.
I have accepted the position of Executive Director for the National Association of Elementary School Principals based in Alexandria and Reston, Virginia. This position will enable me to continue my passion for improving K-12 public education and helping school principals improve in their positions at the national and international levels.
During my nine years at CLAS, I have made friendships and shared experiences that will last a lifetime.
In addition, I have had the great joy and privilege to meet thousands of dedicated school and school system administrators who are committed to helping Alabama students fulfill their God given potential.
My only hope is that I have improved the CLAS organization in some way. Throughout my tenure as executive director, I have always tried to do what was best for the members we served.
I will miss the relationships of CLAS members and staff, but I have a heart full of wonderful memories and treasured friendships that will remain with me for the rest of my life.
Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful organization. I will be eternally grateful for having had the opportunity to lead CLAS as the executive director. I am
L. Earl Franks, Ed.D., CAE
